What You Should Know About Family Law

Military Family Law Attorney

Mr. Starks has been practicing military divorce law, or navy, marine or air force armed services divorces, for over 25 years in San Diego, California. He is experienced in interpreting military pay grades, Leave and Earnings Statements (LES) including Basic Allowance for Housing and other military pay differentials.

Mr. Starks is familiar with US military in Iraq, military in Japan, or stationed here in San Diego at Camp Pendleton or Coronado Navy Base. He has given legal advice in his law firm as a family law attorney in San Diego, California to military husbands and military wives for over two decades.

He will provide a free 30 minute internet consultation to any military personnel who have questions regarding military custody or child visitation. In his interview, he goes over the problems specific to military members, including the problem of service members' spouses contacting navy command or other services commanding officers to try to obtain alimony or child support without going to court. We know this puts pressure on enlisted members of the military to pay more than they are legally required to under spousal support or child support guidelines. Contact Tony Starks today for your free 30 minute consultation.

Our office also provides information in Family Law pertaining to the unique problems of military families, including divorce, custody and visitation disputes when there is a military deployment in Iraq or other areas of the world.

He is also familiar with FUSFSPA, the Uniform Services Former Spouses Protection Act, under which military pensions are divided, including military waivers, military survivor benefit plan coverage (SBP), military retirement pay and disability pay, and other pension related property divisions. He also has available DFAS (Defense Finance and Accounting Services)-United State Navy retirement pay, and has resources to determine service connected pay grades, and is familiar with VA waivers. San Diego Family Law and Divorce lawyer Anthony Starks is available now to help you. Call 1-800-936-1416 to speak with him today.

Basically, a military divorce proceeds like a civilian divorce, with the exception of child custody and visitation problems which are more complex since the parents normally are not stationed at the same duty station; child visitation is especially difficult.

On the child and spousal support (alimony) the LES provides the basic allowance for support and so interpreting the pay grades is important. Finally, dividing the military longevity pension is based on a Federal plan that must be followed. The military pension itself is divided by DFAS after a Domestic Relations Order is obtained in California family law courts.

Importantly, our law office is normally able to process the entire enlisted service member's dissolution of marriage (divorce) through email, fax, mail, and telephone service. Mr. Starks has represented many service members without them ever having to appear in a California courtroom.
